entrà le coste del me pèt
en cör despetenà, revèrs,
lagà lì sol co le sò smànie
stizàde da 'n amor che è perdù via
come qoél cànchen,
che no dròpo pù da 'n pèzz
scondù 'n 'l armar,
ché dent de mi ven su ancora la sgàia
de pipàr
ma sai che 'l so' saór 'l me ciàpa via
'n de na sonada che, 'ncöi en dì,
no völ sentir neguni...
e mi la mòlo al vént che 'l passa
e 'l zaca gió

Il cuore spettinato...

ho trovato dentro, questa mattina, | tra le pieghe del mio petto | un cuore spettinato, bisbetico | lasciato solo, lì, con le sue smanie | attizzate da un amore ubriaco | come la pipa | che non uso ormai da molto | nascosta in un armadio | ché dentro me nasce la voglia | di riaccenderla | ma so che il suo sapore poi mi inebria  | in una serenata che, in questo momento, | nessuno vuol sentire | e la abbandono al vento che mi passa accanto | e che non se ne accorge

The ruffled heart

I found inside, this morning
– within my ribs and chest –
a scruffy, peevish heart,
left there alone with cravings
rekindled by a drunken love;
just like that pipe
I haven't smoked for years,
hidden inside a wardrobe,
as there could rise within me
a longing still to light it up
again, knowing that the taste
of it would overwhelm me
with a serenade that right now
nobody wants to hear,
so I let it go into the wind that
blows past me, quite oblivious.
